Our Hearing Tests
Our audiologist will perform a hearing test using an audiometer. The audiometer can determine your hearing sensitivity at different frequencies. The test usually takes place in a soundproof booth where you will be asked to wear a set of headphones connected to the audiometer. Producing tones at specific frequencies and set volume levels to each ear, the audiometer is used to plot the loudness of the test in decibels on an audiogram. The audiologist or hearing aid specialist records these plot points on a graph. Once the test is finished, these plot points are connected by a line in order to see which frequencies are not being heard normally and what degree of hearing loss may be present.
